Speaker for Buddhism..

About Uncle Vijaya

Uncle Vijaya Samarawickrama is a very inspiring and respected Buddhist teacher that has inspired many through the lens of Buddhism by his noble action in expounding the Dhamma. He graduated as a specialist in the Teaching of English as a Second Language from the Malayan Teachers’ Training College in Liverpool, England and later on a B.A.(Hons) in English and Linguistics from the University of Malaya and an M.A. (Drama and Theater). 

Uncle Vijaya start with explaining about 4 types of concept of God..

1. Animism = Belief that the nature are the gods..
2. Polytheism = Belief there are many gods 
3. Henotheism = Belief and worship of a single god (The chief of the gods) while accepting the existence or possible existence of other deities that may also be worshiped 
4. Monotheism = Belief in one god only

Our supreme good lies in our harmoniously adjusting ourselves there to 

+Belief that there is UNSEEN ORDER.. 

Next, Uncle Vijaya define the words THEOCENTRIC n HOMOCENTRIC

WHAT'S THAT MEAN??!!!!

Theocentric = Having God as a central of focus

Homocentric = Human(Ourself) as a central of focus > BUDDHISM

"They not deny the existence of God but, 

they emphasizes the need for self effort in order to transcend suffering"

To be a good Buddhist, one must practice 5 sealers (physical practice) which are....

1. Do not LIE
2. Do not KILL
3. Do not take DRUGS
4. Do not STEAL
5. Do not have SEXUAL MISCONDUCT

They translate words MANUSIA came from MANU + USIA

Manu = mind

Usia = Develop

MANUSIA= We have to develop our mind...!!
(Sounds like ABG BADR trademark..."ALL IS ABOUT UR MIND~!~"..4 those who know him.. =))

I'm not sure bout this but, he did mention about Type of Gods they have..

1. SAMMUTHI DEVA = animisme-mythical god
2. UPPATI DEVA= Gods by birth
3. VISUDDHI DEVA= Human who purify himself by doing 5 sealers..(so, if they can obey all the 5 sealers, they can be one of the god!!)

Then,,

WHO IS BUDDHA?? 

He is the founder of this religion..

He is NOT someone they WORSHIP,

BUT, they take him as SUPREME EXAMPLE to purify their mind...

Next term I learn is DHARMA..

Dharma is the reasoning about whatever happen around them

They try to understand how world operates..

Dharma also means the TEACHING of Buddha

Which focus on looking for happiness by fulfill their pleasure and also through ......MEDITATION.

Sealers only helps in Physical control..

Meditation helps in purifying their mind..

However,

PRAYERS for them is NOT seeking help from their god,

But, as preparation for meditation..

This also help in purifying their MIND....

Bro Phye Keat stands for Christian faith...

He start his session by stating 3 QUESTIONS,

which he asked himself during teenagers which lead him to pick n believe that Christian is the best for him.

1)WHO AM I??

2)WHY WE ARE HERE??

3)WHERE ARE WE GOING AFTER THIS?

He reexamine his religion before he chose it as his faith.

"The unexamined life is not worth living"

AGAIN....He explain about world views on concept of God.

The addition from the last one is Naturalism=Scientism=believe in science/investigation..

However,

Christian belief in MONOTHEISM (1 God)

In Old Testament,Their God describe himself...

n claim that WE the HUMAN, are made according to the God image...

TRINITY

One of the concept which STAND UP in this faith..

Trinity=3 persons=Father + son + Holy spirit

But, this 3 persons become 1 substance which they call God..
(He cant explain much bcoz he himself dont really clear about this n accept it as one of the faith..)

He also stressed on God treat us like His son..

The relationship of God TO Human = Father n Son

This answer his 1st Question..

WHY WE ARE HERE??

For Him

To love Him

To obey Him

If we reject Him, is SIN 

(like a dialogue from children ; "LEAVE ME ALONE!")

The person will enter HELL

(Reply from God ; "THIS IS WHAT U CHOOSE WHEN U LEAVE ME")

I forgot to introduce him..

His name is Chew Phye Keat,graduated from UM with honors in 1986 in Law.Then, he was admitted as Advocate n Solicitor of high court in Malaya before entering the Raja, Darryl n Loh firm. He is the head of church in PJ(if im not mistaken..).He was born in Christian family, but decide to choose Christian since teenagers.

he talks with lightning speed with more likely sharing his experience on why he chose Christian as his religion..I dont get much..but, this explanation will be written in Q&A session as lot of audience interested to know about Christian..^.^..btw, as a lawyer he really good in manipulating our mind by using psychology..i can feel how he use his language n skill to make us 80....the silence of the audience..everyone was like HYPNOTIZED!!
